The Fairfield Public Schools has a 12 month position open for an HVAC Technician. This position performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance of all school HVAC equipment and their controls. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of oil burners and their supply and control systems, the repairs and maintenance of sump and vacuum pumps, pneumatic valves, sensing devices, unit ventilators and domestic hot water systems, the maintenance of compressors, lubricants, fluid levels, filters, fan units and controls, the monitoring of motors, steam traps and boiler refractories for repair by others, isolating ventilation problems, overseeing computer monitoring of various HVAC equipment throughout the district and taking the necessary actions to remedy deficiencies. Applicants must have a considerable knowledge of energy saving techniques, an extensive knowledge of boiler systems and their operation/repair and an extensive working knowledge of computer control systems. You must possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to effectively multi-task. Requirements: graduation from high school and /or its equivalent and extensive experience in all types of HVAC equipment and controls operation and repair or 5 years related experience. Class S2 Connecticut Heating Technician License and Refrigerant License required. This position is offered a full benefits package including medical, prescription, dental and life insurance. The Fairfield Public Schools has a 12 month position open for a Mastercraftsman-Electrician. This position performs skilled electrical work in the maintenance of all school electrical equipment and their controls. Responsibilities are performed independently on electrical circuits, equipment, appliances, wiring, switches, motors, etc. if needed, with the aid of an Electrician Helper. Incumbent must have a thorough working knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical trade. Must be able to lift 75 pounds of weight. Must be able to physically lift, carry, crawl, reach, push and pull a variety of electrical materials. At times, work will be in tight, confined spaces. Position climbs ladders, balances, stoops, kneels and crouches during the work day. Incumbent must possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to effectively multi-task. Requirements - An Electrician’s E1 license is required. The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired from trade or vocational school or high school and/or its equivalent. Five years of experience working as an Electrician is required. College credits/degree a plus. This position is offered a full benefits package including medical, prescription, dental, life insurance and pension plan. Salary range is $50,819 - $55,532 DOE.
