Important Information

August 8th- Please have all forms completed on the online registration by this date.

Dear Soccer Candidates and Parents,

Welcome and welcome back!  Thank you for your interest in trying out for the 2018-2019 Warde Girls’ Soccer team. The coaching staff is very excited to meet the girls and get the season underway.  Our goal as a coaching staff is to give all girls an opportunity of a fair tryout and place them on the appropriate team.  Once teams are in place our goal will be to have our student athletes grow as players and people.

For the 2018-2019 season we have over 80 girls participating in tryouts to make a Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity team. This is a highly competitive year for our program. We are striving to maintain a program that will remain driven in the FCIAC and the State. It is strongly encouraged and recommended that players are prepared for tryouts. During the off season, it is essential for players to be working on their individual skills and improving their overall conditioning.

Every person trying out must turn in a physical form to the Warde School Nurse at least a week prior to the first day of tryouts. In addition, athletes must be registered online through the Fairfield Warde High School athletic page, .  If these are not done prior to tryouts, students will not be allowed to tryout, no exceptions.

Tryouts will begin on August 23rd and continue through August 25th.  During Tryouts you are required to attend all days on time bringing your cleats, sneakers, shin guards and a size 5 inflated ball.  Proper attire is mandatory and each candidate is expected to come properly prepared.  Please refrain from wearing athletic gear showing travel or premier teams that you’ve played on during tryouts to ensure an equal and fair opportunity for all candidates.

All players will be evaluated by the entire coaching staff on your fitness tests, passing, shooting, foot skills, demonstrating knowledge of the game, as well as other technical components of the game.  Hustle, motivation, and attitude will be noted as well. Your performance during these three days will determine your position on team. Past soccer experiences and club teams will not have an influence over coaches’ decisions.

I will be sending information through email, so if know of anyone who has not received this please have them contact me to add them to the distribution list.   All players can also join the Facebook group, Warde Girls Soccer 2018, where captains and players will be sharing other off season training information.

There are some training opportunities prior to tryouts that have been set up for anyone interested.  There are not mandatory but players will benefit from the extra conditioning and touches on the ball.  First is conditioning that will be hosted by Coach Wagner, Monday, August 13th to Thursday, August 16th, from 8-9:30am.  Everyone should meet at the high school.   Second opportunity will be a preseason training camp with Champions Experience and Coach Jadir Barbosa.   Camp will be August 20th to 22nd at Burroughs Field.  Please use this link to register.
