Welcome to North Stratfield

NSS is a wonderful neighborhood school filled with caring children and adults.  We work together as a community of learners to focus on the whole child.  NSS staff members work with parents as partners in the educational journey of our students.

We ensure a balanced educational program that is rigorous yet nurturing.  The arts are very important at NSS as well and we encourage our students to participate in our many music and art programs both in school and after.

The Fairfield curriculum is designed around a focus on higher thinking skills and the teachers at NSS work diligently to provide differentiated strategies to ensure success for each and every learner.

We greatly benefit from our strong parental involvement and especially active PTA.

As our school song says

“NSS is truly a place of friendship and joy where the happiness and fun never ends!"

 Build a Better World…READ!

Fairfield Public schools is once again collaborating with the Fairfield Public library for our summer reading program. The public library has developed a fun and engaging reading tracker and online system to record a student’s reading.  Registration opens June 1st at the Main and Woods Branch Library or online at the children’s summer reading page. If you registered last summer, your log-in information will be the same.

Go online to your Summer Reading account and log the number of minutes you’ve read, beginning June 21st. Paper Logs are available for readers who prefer to be “offline.” Every 200 minutes you log online, you get to the next level in the “Hall of Champions”!

Students can log their reading minutes each day on their account. This account can be accessed from any device that has an internet connection. Explore the library’s website for more information. Sign up for summer reading and enjoy performers, activities and raffles to win great prizes!

At the end of the summer, we will total how many minutes our NSS students have read. Our goal is to read at least 10,000 minutes as a school community!

All students are invited to the Fairfield Public Library Kick-Off Party on Wednesday, June 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Penfield Pavilion, Fairfield. There will be a sand castle contest and prizes when you register for summer reading! Please see the kickoff party flyer for more information. NOTE: A Fairfield Beach Sticker is required to access Penfield parking lots.

Need help choosing a great book to read? Browse the recommended book lists created by Fairfield librarians with your interests in mind. Find fantasy, mystery, series, graphic novels, and some of the best new books of 2016/2017 here.

Parents, please remember to read aloud to your children too! This is true for even older elementary students. Although a child can read at a certain level, his/her “listening” level may be far beyond that. Children can enjoy more complicated plots than those they can read themselves. Have a wonderful time reading and enjoying books this summer!
